You may use an energy blade, or energy cutlass, to negate a direct attack against you or that is passing through your square as a free action by making a Combat skill check of 11. Doubles on this check triggers dangerous effects of your melee weapon. The difficulty of this check goes up by one for each time you've successfully used it in a campaign turn.
